International Dog Day 2022

Dogs have always been an important part of my life and have made it richer and better.

The first family dog I remember, if barely, was Erika, a super smart boxer that left a huge mark in our hearts, so much so that almost 50 years later we still talk about her and remember fondly.

Then came Chuchis, a little mongrel girl that arrived to my grandma’s home and fought for and earned a place in our home and in our hearts.

Even as a kid I felt more comfortable with dogs than with people and they seemed to like me too. Theres a picture of me taking a nap in a family picknick cuddling with a dog that I had just met. My dad used to say that I have dog’s blood in my veins and I took it as a compliment.

I really don’t know what it is but dogs just make me happy. I can’t help but smile when I see a dog and I will pet every dog I can.

The downside is that I feel powerless and sad when I see a dog in need and I can’t do anything to help. I wish I could pick up every stray dog I see roaming the streets and rescue every dog in need posted on Social Media.

In this the International Dog Day I remember and celebrate all the dogs that have touched and enriched my life.

If you have dogs that make your life better, give them a nose kiss and wish them Happy International Dog Day.
