I love black cats. One of the best pets I ever had the honor to be loved by was a little cat that I named Bagheera. He demolished all of my preconceptions about cats and showed me what amazing cats can be.

There are lots of silly ideas surrounding black cats like “cats bring bad luck” or “cats are witches in disguise”, but the truth is that black cats are just like any other, just prettier.

Black companion animals are surrendered to shelters at a higher rate than others, that results in black cats being euthanized in larger numbers.

I have always being a dog person and I was not a big fan of cats because I thought that they were detached and uninteresting but boy was I wrong. One day a little black cat came into my life and changed everything I thought I knew about cats. He was loving and he always came when I called him. He loved sleeping on my hammock with me and he was always there for me when I was blue. His name was Bagheera and although he is gone I think of him and miss him every day.
